Know Your Body. Better Than Ever.

As yogis, we understand the importance of honouring our bodies, listening to them during exercise and fuelling them with good food and nutrition. But even so, there’s a limit to what we can know about our body from listening to it alone.

Body Composition Analysis (BCA) is one of the hot new tools, not only for the fitness industry, but also for measuring and tracking your general health and wellbeing.

Upcoming Body Scan Dates: Monday 6th – Wednesday 8th November 2017

A Body Scan helps you take out the guesswork when it comes to identifying areas of your body that are strong and healthy as well as those that would benefit from some extra love and attention.

For many of us who are unfamiliar with this new technology, Body Composition Scans measure the ratio of different tissues that our bodies are currently made up of, such as fats, lean muscle mass, and the percentage of water in the body being just some examples.

Not only will you get an overall understanding of your body, but the report details exactly where weight is distributed throughout the body; how much body fat and/or muscle is in each leg, arm and even your abdomen; as well as the InBody’s ability to determine visceral fat levels, the dangerous fat correlated with ill health and disease.

We have teamed up with MyBodyIQ and between the 20th and 22nd of September, we will have the InBody570 in the studio for clients, friends and family to take advantage of. Individual scans take only 2 minutes and give you a comprehensive picture of the health of your entire body. For those of you looking to tone up before Summer, a Body Scan will help you quickly identify the areas of your body to focus on. And with the scanner returning to the studio 6-8 weeks later, it’s the perfect opportunity to start your Spring health kick and track your progress with way more precision than the bathroom scales!

As well as being useful for tracking your fitness, very often a BCA can reveal serious risks to your health including diabetes, cardiovascular disease and hormonal imbalances, affected by and possibly caused by high fat stores and low muscle mass. When we are able to identify these things before symptoms occur we are highly likely to best avoid any further damage and with the help of a professional health practitioner, perhaps even reverse the symptoms.

This is why BCAs have become so popular among elder populations, and are no longer reserved for the Body Building competitions and Elite Level Athletes that had used them to optimise their physique and performance in competition.

That’s not to say that this is not ongoing however, many people whether they are elite level competitors or not, continue to use BCAs to gather a very clear picture of their current physical health, and then plan exercise and eating regimes around that, tweaking their unique approach to meet their goals.

So whether you’re embarking on a pre-summer challenge, need some additional motivation to get to class, or just want to know the precise stats on your internal health, it’s time to take the stand!
